No band flipped the script for guitar players more than Sonic Youth. Their classics from this millennium tend to get overlooked though. Sure, ’80s and ’90s favs like ”Teenage Riot” or “Diamond Sea’ are essential, but the argument can be made that as a “guitar band” Sonic Youth were at their peak circa 2002-2006. First because of how they expanded with Jim O’Rourke, and then for how then tidied things up after his departure….
